This is a record book and microfilm (reel #1947) listing date of entry; license number; name of individual; age; nativity; date of diploma; where issued; years in practice; years in Michigan; date of Michigan license; why issued; city located; state located; remarks; change in location; and sometimes date of death. Amount of information varies with each person. Also included is a short list of dental "licentiates" from 1884-1917. Information provided includes date license applied for and date granted; name; address; tutor; school graduated from; fee paid; and remarks.

Act 122, PA 1939 provided for, among other things, the regulation of the practice of dentistry, dental surgery and dental hygiene by the Michigan Board of Dentistry. The Board is responsible for the examination, licensing, registration and determination of penalties for violations of the act.
